I see Remington makes a 18 1/2 inch fully rifled barrel with the cantilever scope mount for their 870 20 ga.. I believe Remington uses a 1:24 twist on their 20 ga. barrels. Has anyone used one of these barrel? I have a 870 Jr. (12" LOP and 18 3/4 vent rib barrel with Remchoke system) 20 ga. for the wife and kids. I wouldn't mind a short "carbine style" slug gun for hunting on the move. I thought about trying a American Barrel Co. barrel on it, this short barrel is pretty interesting though.

I've been using that barrel for the last 2 or 3 seasons. Actually I bought the slug gun package with the 18.5" barrel on it.

I do like the compactness of the gun w/ that barrel as it is "carbine" lenghth and easy to manage in a treestand or blind.

My barrel seems to shoot copper solids better than any other slug I tried in it.

Hope this helps,

Jim
