What do you guys think about shooting rifled slugs in an 18 1/2" smooth cylinder bore?

A smooth bore is what rifled slugs are intended to be shot in. As for the cylinder bore, it should work just fine. Just try out a few different brands of slugs and see which one your gun does best with.

They work just fine and are fairly accurate in my 870 Police out to 50 yards.

The recommendation is "no tighter" than IC. Cylinder, being more open, is just fine.

I found federal tru-ball rifled slugs to group well out of my 26 inch IC tube on my 870. better than some winchester slugs anyhow.

I might try them out of the 28" barrel with IC choke, too.
