I am thinking of shooting my 20 ga 870 WM for pheasant this year.

B&P makes a 20 ga 2 3/4 1 1/4 oz load of 5 shot at 1285.

What do you think of B&P in general and have any of you guys shot this load.

I usally shoot my 12 870 WM or 16 ga Ithaca pump or Savage auto, but the 12 ga is getting heavy and am giving my much loved Ithaca 16 ga pump to my nephew because he is a lefty and is a great kid. My savage was my grandfathers and must be at least 40 years old and is not that reliable, I use it for dove but don't trust it for pheasant any more. So I thought I would try the 20 ga, I just got it from a buddy for free who gave up hunting.

I've never shot the B&P ammo but I shoot 5 shot for pheasants all the time. In a 20 gauge its good up to about 40 yards. Anything past that would be pure luck for me. Mine is a old Savage Stevens side by side that I started shooting 30 years ago. :)

I'm shooting almost the same load in my SxS 20ga. from Fiocchi but in 3" (1 1/4 oz. #5 @ 1250 f.p.s.) and the the two roosters I shot last weekend aren't going anywhere. They folded like Thor's Hammer descended from the heavens and smote (neat word huh?) them dead on the spot. I also leave in 1 1/2 hours for a South Dakota pheasant hunt and am carrying nothing else.

I've shot a boat load of pheasant with 1oz #5 and #6 shot from 20 gauges. I think that load would be a good one.
