28 ga. SxS

I have been shooting a 28 ga. O/U and am impressed with this little shell. I don't know why, but I have been bitten by the nostalga bug lately. I would like to purchase a 28 ga. SxS for the heck of it.

You guys have always given me great advice in the past, so let's keep it going. The fun budget has about 3k presently. Any suggestions?

I know of a used but very nice 28 ga. AYA #2 sidelock for sale. They've been asking $2995 for a few months now. If you're interested, I can point in their direction.

I stopped and had a closer look at the AYA today. A beautiful, very lightly used gun with nice wood, leather covered recoil pad, and fitted with a full set of Briley Thinwall choke tubes. Tasteful engraving, nice case colors with hand removeable sidelocks. No tools required. The only problem I see is that it's got a 13 1/4" LOP w/pad from the front trigger.

want a project? Galazan is selling 28ga actions/barrels in the white. get the action final fitted and go straight blue or get fancy with the reciever... then send it to a custom stock maker and get a pretty piece of wood to your dimensions.. probably would be in your budget, especially if you got bud whos a gunsmith...

you'd have a new all american made 28ga.. Hmm, that would be something special.
Yeah, it could be something special, but unless you can do most or all of the work yourself, I doubt that you'd get off cheaply by going this route. There would be many hours in "final fitting" and custom stock work. When it's done, you'd better like it because resale value will likely be NIL.
