I have a 28 gauge SxS shotgun choked MOD and FULL. I need a wider spread in the shot pattern, but I cannot alter the chokes. Has anyone developed a 28 gauge spreader load with easily accessible components?

I've checked all the sources I know of, and haven't found anything for the 28. Ballisic products has an insert for 12, 16, and 20 gauge loads... maybe you could trim one down - but it would displace a fair amount of shot, so you'd need to use a wad/shotcup made for 1/8 oz more than you're really going to use. Check their website...

and look for X-Stream spreader inserts

On the other hand, this seems like a perfect excuse to acquire another shotgun.

Try using a brush wad. They work similar to a spreader. BP has them in 28 gauge. I use them for my 20 when hunting grouse.

I have tried the x-stream on other gauges. They work very well, but are too large for the 28 gauge. Cutting them to fit would be difficult.

I am interested in the BP brush wads. Do you have a good load for their use in the 28?

Has anyone tried using separator cards in the shot column? If so, what is a good load?
