i recently acquired a 820b from a neighbor
i disassembled the entire gun and can't find a serial # or any markings
the barrel tells me its stevens savage arms,820b,12 gauge,
2 3/4 shells and where it was made but no serial #
can you help?

It was made before 1968 that is why no serial number.

It was made from 1949 - 1954 , if it doesn't have the tennite (plastic) Stock and forend , it was later in the production run.

Just elaborate on MarlandS posting: prior to 1968 gun manufacturers in the US were not REQUIRED to put serial numbers on their gun, some did, some did not. In 1968 it became law that all guns sold by importers, manufacturers in the US had to have serial numbers.

Parker Bros of Meridian, Conn put serial numbers on their guns since the 1870's, as did many others--but not all.
