The operating handle on my A-5 mag. is striking the receiver on the return...anyone know what to look for? Thanks in advance...Paul

The barrel is sitting too far forward.

Possible causes:

1) the forend is not properly seated in the reciever

2) the wood in the forend is compressed by the barrel ring slamming in to it and has shortened the distance that the mag cap is held away from the barrel ring

3) The Mag cap is not screwed down all the way and snug.

Thanks for the input. It looks like the wood inside the forearm got compressed by the barrel ring.It looks like a lot of work to try and salvage this forearm, so I think I will get a synthetic stock set instead.

I store my Browning A-5s with the fore end removed to prevent this from happening. Yes, it's a little more trouble, but my A-5s are worth it to me.
