Are the gas cylinder retainer rings interchangeable between the Mag 10 and the Remington SP10? While I have 2 barrels I've only one of the retainer rings.

I'm considering on chopping one of my two barrels (28" and 32") down to about 24" and threaded for interchangeable chokes. Is there an average velocity loss I could expect, such as the typical 30-50 fps per inch centerfire rifles show? Would it be preferrable to keep the longer 32" tube intact?

Thanks,

Glenn

Glenn,.

Recently, I sent my "early" model Mag10 32" barrel to Les from Diamond Gunsmithing. I was wanting to do the same as you. He just informed me the barrel thickness dimension was too narrow to support the threads necessary for screw in chokes, so we are going to leave the length at 32" and just hone the barrel to "Imp Mod" for steel and goose loads. For Hunting geese in Texas, we are always laying down or sitting in the mud when shooting, so I guess I can put up with the bazooka-length.
