A Tale of Two Shotguns!

As I have mentioned in the past, my retirement date is rapidly apparently approaching.(62 days…… But, who is counting??!!😀)

My issued shotgun is a Remington 870 Police Magnum with a 14” bbl and rifle sights. It is far and away my favorite work shotgun I have ever had!

Several months ago, I paid for the transfer fees (“tax stamp”) and bought one of my own in anticipation of giving the loaner back to the county.
I qualified with theirs again today. It was actually more fun than usual considering that my scores with any of the guns really didn’t matter. 62 days, Remember?!
I shot 100% with the Remington and 91.3 with my issued Glock 17 Gen 5.

Anyway, the county’s 870 rides in a hard case in the trunk of my unmarked Crown Victoria stoked with two low recoil 00 Buck followed by two low recoil slugs with extras stored in the stock.

Mine is in my bedroom with 4 low recoil 00s in the tube and six more in a side mounted shell carrier.

Best,
Charles

Speaking from experience, being a retired LEO is the best kind. You need one of those Speed Feed stocks on your personal toy! Happy Retirement.

Hard to beat an 870 for SD/HD. Similar story for me but ours was 11-87. I retired from the job December 2020. Enjoy it brotha!

Congratulations! I’m retired about 6 years now. I go back, shoot for LEOSA once a year and then don’t think about it.

Enjoy being a regular person again!
