I’ve been working on my hunter mag 2. I put patterning on hold.

The verdict after 30+ rounds Is that the barrels are aligned. But the bead does not match the center of shot. The bead is visibly crooked.

ive ordered a vent rib mount trying to put a red dot on. But assuming that doesn’t work what sight options are out that adjust and work for birds andsmall game?

Nice.

the site is a cheap fiber optic. It’s on there crooked. I’m not sure it should matter.

my new mounts arrived. If I can get this thing to work I’m going to run it with the red dot. Ideally I wouldn’t want to shoot a barrel that’s off this much if the barrel really is crooked. but if I can get it killing game I’ll run it through the season and tristar already confirmed but they will fix the issue if I can identify it. probably replace the barrel.

I addressed that in my second post. I don’t want the gun in the mail or in their shop right now because season just opened.

I bought this gun online. So I didn’t get to inspect it until I already bought it.

These sights and jig fit my other guns. I have a couple of pumps and autos. I’m bored hunting with them. The idea here is to fire 1 shot only. With the odds favoring me more because of the different chokes and my having the ability to put 2 of my custom loads in the gun and select 1 on the fly.

The 1x reddot may go on my short ar pistol if this doesn’t work out. I do think I should get a free barrel replacement given this issue.

The rib mount jig was a success. I was told my 3 gunsmiths and multiple fudds that a rib mount would never work with a micro red dot. I was “ruining” the gun and its would never be stable. So obviously I had to slap a giant vortex spitfire on there to prove my point. It’s is extremely stable and works well on the range. I need to field test it this season before reaching a conclusion. I have a guy set up to tap 2 of these rib jigs onto two of my guns for added stability. I’m going to blue loctite them in place in addition to that.

the red dots are great for turkey or squirrel. I’ve used them to good effect on rabbit despite all the naysayers. I don’t hunt birds so I can’t speak to that. I have an issue with my eyes that makes me miss with iron sites. On a good day I’d need 2 shots per kill on most anything with iron sites even with still shots. I’ve gone 11 and 12 shots per 10 kills on my best days with my other red dot setup. Moving shots taken as they come. I’m trying to take all the clear moving shots I get going forward.
