I bought a AL 391 Urika about a year ago now and everytime i pull it apart to clean it the magazine end cap has rust in it. I do not ever shoot in the rain, and i have never cleaned it. How is there rust getting in the end cap? What do i do to solve my problem?
Thanks

Some of the gas from the combustion of the shell and used to cycle the action is getting into the forend nut. Since the gases are warm, the moisture in them condense inside the nut and voila, there's your rust. This is actually normal for a 391 but it's not a good thing. If you leave that nut on long enough, it will rust in place and you'll have a very hard time getting it off.

Best advice is to keep the threaded spindle well greases when you screw the forend nut into place. Also, I flood mine with BreakFree CLP everytime I clean the gun. I hope that some of the CLP stays in place when I pour it out and is helping guard against corrosion.

This is one of the trouble spots on this model. There are a few aftermarket caps for the AL391 as well. Clean the cap with a solvent and then put some greese in the cap. Also keep a little bit of greese on the threads. Keep an eye on it when you clean the gun. It could have got moisture from condesation build up from going hot to cold and vise versa.

My Son got a PT 391 4 years ago, before it was shot I pulled the nut off, soaked it in Break Free, shook out all I could and then coated it well with anti seize. All he has ever done is add a small amount of anti seize when it gets to looking dry, everything has remained free inside the nut.

The entire cap can be dissassembled. Use a pair of grip ring pliers to remove the grip ring at the end of the cap. The contents can then be removed. There are four pieces inside. Clean them off and coat them with grease before you reassemble the cap. You should do this once or twice a year and you will not have a rust problem.
