I recently ordered a new 688 in left hand. I will receive it some time this week. I didn't get a chance to get my hands on one. I know it has a left hand palm swell. I have two left hand Browning 725s and the top lever is moved to the left to open the action
My question is what direction does tthe lever on the left hand 688 move.
Thanks for any insight.

I don't consider it an issue at all; in fact I PREFER the lever get pushed to the right as a LH shooter; just as a I prefer RH double triggers

Hey thanks guys. I knew the 686 lefties had a rh top lever. I just thought that Beretta may have changed in their later models. Tracking down a leftie up here was quite a feat. I probably would have settled on a Rh but I was worried that the palm swell would be an issue. But i was lucky and one showed up. And as a leftie, when you see one you buy it.
I am always very careful to stress the left hand top lever opening when I let someone shoulder my 725s. I have a rh Weathetby Orion so it won't be an issue

Good to know. They are so abjectly uncommon that I forget they even exist. I've never seen one in person, I don't recall ever seeing one in a gun shop, and I've only seen a handful of photos of people using one on Facebook, one a very high grade which I would assume is a sponsored foreign shooter.

I received the gun today. It is really sweet. I have a Beretta A400 leftie, and was always impressed with the workmanship. I had to pull off about 5 pieces of plastic film from the barrels. I am not sure if the film is only on the barrels. Also the finish is described as Glossy oil. Not sure if it is actually oil rub finish. I will be shooting tomorrow. So far it feels really nice.
