Is the gun too heavy to use for duck hunting?

I'm talking about the hunter model with the walnut stock.

Pretty nice gun for the price. Good for duck hunting?

Or should I save the cash and get a 870 express mag?

One of the best reasons for choosing a BPS, in addition to the tang safety and bottom ejection, for waterfowl hunting is because it is relatively heavy. Nothing soaks up recoil from heavy duck and goose loads better than extra weight (within reason, of course). If the bulk of your hunting involves walking instead of sitting in a blind you might want to consider something lighter (Mossberg maybe. 870s don't weigh that much less than the BPS).

I have a gold light 10ga. I baught for geese, and yesterday I didn't have enough 12ga. rounds for a duck hunt, so I took the 10 and clobbered 5 teal with it and had a Ball. It weighs 9lbs. 10oz. I didn't think it was going to be that easy to swing until I tried it.
In case your wondering I'm 6' 1" and about 217lbs. give or take a few oz.
