A few years back, inherited a Browning Belgian-made 12ga O/U, trying to date / ID model / approx value. Barrel length 30". Stock has etchings in steel portions of game birds.

On barrel:
12 GA-Shells 2-3/4" - Made In Belgium - Browning Patent

Factory stamp under Top Lever:
54962S6 (ser# ??)

Factory stamp on Take Down Lever:
54962 F7

There's also some numbers scratched by hand with an awl where shells are loaded into chamber...this may have been done by previous owner:
V0233823

thanks for any and all help!

to determine the value we'll need to determine the grade , also it's from the salt wood era, any damage from that? carefully inspect the wood around the buttplate, forearm, and where the wood joins the receiver metal for any telltale rusting or pitting.

you can contact the Browning historian to find the grade and original configuration from the serial # also tell him about the handscratched numbers since I believe it to be from being returned to the factory at some point in time.. try calling 801-876-2711
