I like the scope and the cirle x reticle. But will it stand up to twenty gauge recoil?

Hello Luke, I do not know why Bushnell gets a bad name for no reason. You will find many shooters that will tell you that Bushnell makes good scopes. My Bushnell BDC scope is more clear in dark area's than my Nikon Pro Staff BDC.
If you have extra money lying around just waiting to spend then you can pick a scope costing more but you need to check your budget!

it is going on a mossberg 500 smooth bore with a rifled choke tube the only reason I care is because i don't wanna break a scope costing more than the gun

Given that it withstands the recoil on a 12ga 870, I'd say yes it will work fine on a 20ga 500. :^)

BTW, the 1-4x with a circle reticle is nice for feral hogs. Dial down to the 1x end in heavy brush for super fast accuracy, dial up to 3x when working the edges of fields to center that 75yd shot.
