Just wondering if there is a way, I can do it myself. If not, what kind of costs can I expect for the barrel and receiver.

To keep get the matte finish you desire with out going thru the cost and expense of removing one of the hardest stock finishes in the business, have the stock & forearm silica bead blasted (at a lower pressure) to achieve the finish you desire.
they come out quite nice.
