Finally found & bought a deal on a new Weatherby Orion 28 ga. SXS. Without seeing one, just reading ad's, descriptions, features, and reviews. Biggest mistake I've ever made in buying a shotgun. Nobody around me had one. Could, and Should, have looked at an Orion O/U, at Bass Pro in Nashville, It for sure, would have showed me enough to know I didn't want one. It looks like a toy. Its choke tubes sticking appx. 1/2" out the end of the barrels with blue, plastic looking rings, on the ends, all metal on gun is, they call it matt blue, to me looks flat grey with a greenish tint, just not what I's expecting. I's concerned about the English (straight) grip stock, as I've never had one, and now know why, it just doesn't fit me, there's not enough drop on the stock, I've got to put the bottom point of the butt plate in my shoulder to see straight down the top of the barrels. I never realized they made a SXS without auto safety's but this one doesn't have one, have learned since I got it, it's not as rare in skeet guns, but I've never had one & if I've seen one I just never noticed. Not sure why, but this Orion with 28" barrels while all my other SXS's have 26" barrels, this Orion stands 4 1/2" taller in my gun case than any of the other SXS's. Got to measuring and this gun is 2" longer from the butt plate to the barrels though the length of pull is appx. the same as others. Have read bunches of pos. reviews, and everybody's got the right to their own opinion, but for me, my opinion, the worst purchase I've made.. Not that all is neg. the wood really looks nice.... Would still be interested in a Mossberg Silver Reserve or Silver reserve 2 SXS in 28 ga.
