Central Arms was a house brand name of Shiplaigh Hardware Co of St louis MO. Yours was likely made by Stevens Arms Co, or possibly Crescent Arms..Probably between 1904 and 1930.. Bushrod

Thanks so very much. I'm going to do some research on the info you gave me and hopefully i'll have a little history to pass on to the owner. Once again,,,, Thanks

I'm wondering if that info applies to my gun.
When my father died I ended up with a double barrel, 12 ga shotgun with the external hammers you have to cock. The only writing on the gun is CENTRAL ARMS CO ST LOUIS MO.
There is a number inside the front grip, 357171.
Is this another from the Shapleigh Hardware Co 1904 to 1930?
Is the old gun worth hanging onto or was it mass produced and there may be 100,000 of them floating around?
Thanks

The sidelock Central Arms doubles were built by Crescent Arms. The boxlocks were built by Stevens. Both between 1904 and the late 20s,, Bushrod
