That's exactly what it sounds like. I used to do this fairly often when I was shooting a Browning regularly. They have a relatively long trigger pull, and as a result, there's a tendency not to release it all the way before trying to pull again.
If there was something mechanically wrong, it would usually do it more than 1/100 times.
