There are "not too expensive" shells available that approximate the pressures that your gun was designed for,and operate on smokeless [modern] powders.I just ordered a case of 2 1/2" 20ga.shells,with 7/8 oz. loads, from Galazan's,for $60 plus $15 S&H. I believe I read that the pressures produced should be in the 700-800 psi range as opposed to the 1200+ psi produced by most modern shells. Many of your "VINTAGER" types use similar loads to allow themselves the enjoyment of safely shooting their old damascus guns without the cleanup problems associated with blackpowder loads.Have a competent gunsmith look your gun over first, and remember that damascus is not Latin for dangerous.
Good Luck,
Jim
