I did!! For the first time in a couple years I went trap shooting. After about a 20 year lay-off four clubs are getting together to revive the Hangover Trap League. I shoot for the skeet team at one of them so what the heck. Today was the first shoot and happened to be at my club. There's a total of eight shoots, two at each club, and a shoot-off. $2/week/shooter goes to prizes, so I don't think many ringers are going to spoil the fun. All four of these clubs are just around the north end of Seneca Lake from me. Three are within 10 miles and one I've never been to is maybe 30 miles down some beautiful country roads. I hope spring gets here because the top-down Mustang is ready to roll!

I don't think I ever posted a pic of my home-made custom trap gun. I found this in a little Mom & Pop gun shop when I was killing time at the Waverly NY Auto Auction. Paid $200 NIB never fired. It's the Nat. Wild Turkey Foundation raffle gun from 2007 made by H&R. I put the custom pad on with a spacer for some extra LOP, not a bad do-it-yourself effort, if I must say so! I added some serious weight in the stock, those H&R's kick like mules! Got a hammer extension, an IM choke, and I load really light 7/8 oz. loads.

First station today I missed three birds, then nailed 18/20 the rest of the way. I kinda forgot how to float the birds. Ended up with a 37/50. I'll take it. I had a blast!.........................the Mailman

Going to church, then after church we will be delivering food to the less fortunate families in the surrounding area.

Hi,

Sitting at home with my trusty pager waiting for a call. I honestly hope everyone is done for this week. Have about had it with people. I've been insulted, assaulted, puked on, bled on, inside several car wreaks, a fire, and a possible CO poisoning. Enough is enough.

Only thing they haven't done to me this week is shoot at me - and the week ain't quite over yet.
Checked my super seeded turkey plots today and wow at the dove! I'm going to have a good evening tomorrow with the 20 bobwhite

This was a great weekend...
Friday night, high school football!
Saturday, shot the rifles, hung out with my Father in Law and watched "Unforgiven" and went to Saturday evening Church service.
Today, fished (quit early to shoot), shot the new-to-me A5, shot the .243, mowed lawn, heard about my nephew's Canadian Bear hunt.

It was a great weekend.

The rifle likes the Federal Fusions, but I haven't been able to recreate with my reloads.

One of these holes is from my .30-06

Today's target looks like this:

I'll be loading up the truck and trailer today for a O-dark-thirty departure tomorrow morning on my annual western bird odyssey. Me and the boys are going to spend a month and a half in Montana and Idaho hunting sharptail, Huns, pheasant, chukar and California quail. I'm taking my tablet with me, and will try to check in occasionally when I can get WIFI.

Be safe and have a good time, as I know you will.
RM, that's a fine looking rig. It reminds me of Charles Steinbeck's departure on "Travels With Charley." And it makes me feel like the little neighbor kid who longed to go along...

Fair winds, and following seas!
I'm set to depart, but it got off to a rousing start so far. The neighbors have a little white long haired pup that loves my two renegades. I let the boys out to air a bit before I departed and they immediately bolted down the road and I heard my 6" 5" biker neighbor yelling at his pup. I went down there and his puppy was following my dogs into the tall, wet grass and wouldn't come back to him. Called my dogs in and we got the pup back looking like it had just had a bath and then was sprinkled with grass seed. Oh well, it has to get better than this as I launch this expedition into the teeth of a Torcon 3 frontal system. I mean, what could possibly go wrong now?
What a way to start the day! Have a great trip RM. Looking forward to hearing all about it.
Hope you have a great trip RM!!

The past five days were spent tearing the old decking off our deck and replacing it with composite. Thank God for friends and family, or this would have been a six month project. I was too busy working to get any pictures, but my mom and my wife took quite a few. I still have a little left to do (finishing the steps and attaching the fascia), but haven't done a [email protected] thing yet today - I'm taking a well deserved day off.

WESTWARD HO!

Following the footsteps of both CDB and RM, we're setting out this morning for the American West. Lake Tahoe, to start. Five day drive, if the plan is accurate. Then, from Tahoe, we ride back across Nevada on BICYCLES!

This is an organized ride, fully supported, covering 421 miles in five days (it's called OATBRAN- One Awesome Tour Bike Ride Across Nevada). No hyperbole there, is there?

Hopefully, when I get back home I'll be able to blow the cobwebs off my shotgun and learn how to use it. I think there s a bird season looming ahead, too. Isn't that true?

You must be out here visiting. Before I moved to Moses Lake, Samammish was about 30 minutes away from where I lived. Also, I bet you just love the traffic.

I was out yesterday watching youngsters hunt ducks and later over at the Pheasants Forever early pheasant hunt for the kids. I soon will be a card carrying member of Pheasants Forever, once they mail me the membership card.

Today is the dreaded "chores" so I can get free tomorrow when the senior pheasant hunt starts.
Hi,

Trying to work up enough ambition to take the young dogs out for a quick grouse run.

They are all for it. My old wheels- not so much after yesterday.

DAMN, I wish we could have gotten together and done some sporting clays shooting. Next time we are out, we will have to get together, I could borrow one of the guns Tim got from me, and do some shooting.
