I did!! For the first time in a couple years I went trap shooting. After about a 20 year lay-off four clubs are getting together to revive the Hangover Trap League. I shoot for the skeet team at one of them so what the heck. Today was the first shoot and happened to be at my club. There's a total of eight shoots, two at each club, and a shoot-off. $2/week/shooter goes to prizes, so I don't think many ringers are going to spoil the fun. All four of these clubs are just around the north end of Seneca Lake from me. Three are within 10 miles and one I've never been to is maybe 30 miles down some beautiful country roads. I hope spring gets here because the top-down Mustang is ready to roll!

I don't think I ever posted a pic of my home-made custom trap gun. I found this in a little Mom & Pop gun shop when I was killing time at the Waverly NY Auto Auction. Paid $200 NIB never fired. It's the Nat. Wild Turkey Foundation raffle gun from 2007 made by H&R. I put the custom pad on with a spacer for some extra LOP, not a bad do-it-yourself effort, if I must say so! I added some serious weight in the stock, those H&R's kick like mules! Got a hammer extension, an IM choke, and I load really light 7/8 oz. loads.

First station today I missed three birds, then nailed 18/20 the rest of the way. I kinda forgot how to float the birds. Ended up with a 37/50. I'll take it. I had a blast!.........................the Mailman

WESTWARD HO!

Following the footsteps of both CDB and RM, we're setting out this morning for the American West. Lake Tahoe, to start. Five day drive, if the plan is accurate. Then, from Tahoe, we ride back across Nevada on BICYCLES!

This is an organized ride, fully supported, covering 421 miles in five days (it's called OATBRAN- One Awesome Tour Bike Ride Across Nevada). No hyperbole there, is there?

Hopefully, when I get back home I'll be able to blow the cobwebs off my shotgun and learn how to use it. I think there s a bird season looming ahead, too. Isn't that true?
Good luck, hopefully you can check in on your way out.

You must be out here visiting. Before I moved to Moses Lake, Samammish was about 30 minutes away from where I lived. Also, I bet you just love the traffic.

I was out yesterday watching youngsters hunt ducks and later over at the Pheasants Forever early pheasant hunt for the kids. I soon will be a card carrying member of Pheasants Forever, once they mail me the membership card.

Today is the dreaded "chores" so I can get free tomorrow when the senior pheasant hunt starts.
DAMN, I wish we could have gotten together and done some sporting clays shooting. Next time we are out, we will have to get together, I could borrow one of the guns Tim got from me, and do some shooting.

I bet you don't forget those who are WA state members in the future.
I sure won't, we will get together, do you have a Place to shoot SC?

I know of a couple spots for 5 stand. I've never gone to a sporting clays club.
I have shot 5 stand a couple times, a lot less walking than SC.

I was out today shooting my 2nd and 3rd pheasant since 1965.

Also, today Molly retrieved her first pheasant. but didn't want to pick the next one up. After a session with a dead one in the back yard Molly told me she likes pheasants.

Also I got word my DeHaan shotgun has been repaired and is ready to be shipped back. I've been shooting a CZ Upland Ultralight while mine has been in the shop. It's nice to have two that are stocked the same and shoot to the same POI.
I updated the dove leader board thread :!: :!:

Had cataract surgery on one eye yesterday. All I can say today is that it's a miracle; a fountain of youth! I came on so gradually over the years that I didn't notice. Colors are simply spectacular. Everything is suddenly bright and stunning. My right eye is scheduled for next month. Looking through it is like looking through dense amber sunglasses. All this after my optometrist told me in January that my eyes were just fine. BS! See an ophthalmologist MD and get a real evaluation. Watch out targets when I get back on the range!
Spent the evening at the local tire shop getting a front tire from my 4wd tractor repaired. 3 boots, 1 tire patch, 9.50x24 tube and 2 hours labor cost me $64.58. I don't know how he makes any money, he charged me $15 for the 2 hours labor the rest was for the tube, boots, & patch. He's a neighbor and cuts me a discount on the labor but his normal shop rate is only $15/hour. Like going back in time 35 years.
I have cataracts, but they are not bad enough for surgery yet, just get stronger glasses

Go see a specialist. I had good vision but the brightness was significantly decreased. I could not drive at night anymore because I could not read the signs and all the on coming headlights looked like a starburst. Surgery was an absolute gift of youthful vision again.
Not much today, just working around the house :!:

Indeed.
I made it out to Montana OK,but the rains set in for four days and I couldn't get out with the dogs except for first three days here. The rains are gone now so got out this morning and bagged two sharptail grouse hunting over 6 year old Bode. I have yet to get Rebel a bird, and am starting to get desperate. We've seen Hun's, but those spooky suckers won't hold to be pointed, so none shot at yet. Total for the trip so far is 5 sharptail. I relocate to Baker, MT Saturday for a couple more weeks of bird hunting before heading for the Idaho ranch. Got to get Rebel on some birds soon, he is doing a great job of covering ground and hunting hard, but no success yet. Bode seems to just invent birds when he hits the ground. Maybe tomorrow will be different. Later guys.

Lets hope the weather gets better, and the hunting improves.

Wired a 5 foot 10 outlet wire mold above a workbench today, and added an outlet by the garage door for a client.
