I did!! For the first time in a couple years I went trap shooting. After about a 20 year lay-off four clubs are getting together to revive the Hangover Trap League. I shoot for the skeet team at one of them so what the heck. Today was the first shoot and happened to be at my club. There's a total of eight shoots, two at each club, and a shoot-off. $2/week/shooter goes to prizes, so I don't think many ringers are going to spoil the fun. All four of these clubs are just around the north end of Seneca Lake from me. Three are within 10 miles and one I've never been to is maybe 30 miles down some beautiful country roads. I hope spring gets here because the top-down Mustang is ready to roll!

I don't think I ever posted a pic of my home-made custom trap gun. I found this in a little Mom & Pop gun shop when I was killing time at the Waverly NY Auto Auction. Paid $200 NIB never fired. It's the Nat. Wild Turkey Foundation raffle gun from 2007 made by H&R. I put the custom pad on with a spacer for some extra LOP, not a bad do-it-yourself effort, if I must say so! I added some serious weight in the stock, those H&R's kick like mules! Got a hammer extension, an IM choke, and I load really light 7/8 oz. loads.

First station today I missed three birds, then nailed 18/20 the rest of the way. I kinda forgot how to float the birds. Ended up with a 37/50. I'll take it. I had a blast!.........................the Mailman

So eat cdb...eat all you can. The human body is awfully good at healing itself, but you got to give the engine fuel.

Just a few days left galaxie! Have a GREAT time and shoot a few for those of us that live in "no dove hunting" states!

Also been out scouting for geese...I'm lucky. A few of the fields I can hunt have birds on them..unfortunately with all the rain we've had most fields are still corn covered and will be right through early season..except for one! The sweet corn on the field across the road from me just got harvested this week..I'm hoping the geese will be on it within the next few days. There were deer on it last night..
Reminds me..I need to pull out my deeks and blinds and make sure all is well. Hopefully I don't have any mice in the layout blinds...there nothing worse...

Best of luck to you both! We'll have dove and waterfowl hunting threads up this coming weekend so we can keep a running tally of each hunter's success.
The wife and I went and saw the movie Dunkirk

Drove home from Alger Flats and cleaned my 28g when I got home.
Shot 5 stand with some great guys. The husqvarna 103 cs 16 gauge I just got shoots really well
My son and I gave the Canvasback 20 a good test run yesterday evening. I believe I'm in danger of losing that gun to the boy. He shot lights out with it and said, "I like this gun, it's fun to shoot". Guess I better start saving for another one, lol.

yesterday I dug out all the dove decoys, blind, chairs and such. Made sure the mojo batteries were ok. Now all I need to do is pack the shotgun and the highly trained, highly skilled dove dog.
Wonder how many hunters actually eat dove breast. I personally don't care for it. The doves we shot in Argentina were fed to the local hogs

Good question. I personally don't care for much game of any kind (there's a reason beeves were domesticated over the various deer species IMO) but I thoroughly enjoy dove breast. My favorite game by far is squirrel but dove breast is pretty high on my list.
I like them. Right there with ya on squirrel being the best
I like them as well. What I usually do with them is debone them and marinate them in a mixture of soy sauce and Worcestershire sauce. Then I get some stir fry vegetables and make stir fry with them. The classic bacon wrapped dove breast on the grill is pretty good too.
Car bumper taste pretty good too when it's wrapped in bacon.
