Difference in male and female shooting styles?

SInce I don't shoot with women very often, and my daughter is showing interest, I was wondering, when teaching a female to shoot are there any physiological (sp) differences that would require different techniques than male shooters?I don't want to teach her shooting one way and after she matures have to teach her a different way. (she's 7 now)

um.....well as far as my wife is concerned she shoots almost the same as me the only difference is she has to manuver around her chest when pulling the gun up to her shoulder.on the other hand my girlfriend ;) has a good sized chest (I am trying to be as tack full as I can) and as far as her shooting after it is up in her shoulder it is the same as a male. I talked to my g/f at the range and she said it was the same. Edited by: john305 at: 11/15/02 6:43:36 pm
Depends! Rifle or shotgun??? Yea yea i know this is shotgun world but i shoot rifles to so it would help alot if you'd be specific marland. Browning, The Best there is because second best is well...second best.
Yep I think it is about the same, and if that dippy blond with fake implants says so then it must be true *gag* "Goldens, great friends, better hunters"
Hey I thought they made those support things for womens thing-a-ma-bobs, like they use in sports, that hold em in and flatter. They also use them for shooting bows and arrows. Ah heck I'm reading in the wrong area, I'm going back to shotguns. Shells
Duck Tape works amazingly well For that purpose howie! Yes i have actually used duck tape! Browning, The Best there is because second best is well...second best.
Actually, I don't think there would be much difference in rifle between male and female, sure maybe an adjustment to the comb or even trigger pull but over all ,rifle doesn't count on fit and form as much as shotgun shooting so , my question is directed more in the shotgun realm.
Okay, *refuses to go on soap box*. Marland you just really angered me. I shoot rifle to, and it does make a difference, if your trying to hit bulleyes! And your exact opposite on what you said above marland. Fit and Form IS MAJOR in rifle shooting, stance is Major in shotgun. (stance in shotgun does not differ male:female) Browning, The Best there is because second best is well...second best.Edited by: Sporting Clays Girl at: 11/16/02 11:26:52 am
Show me where I said the exact opposite. Also , shotgunning requires a lot more intuition than rifle, when shotgunning you don't have untold minutes to gather the sight picture, align the sights, think about squeezing the trigger, control your breathing . I angered you? What else is new? :D Edited by: MarlandS at: 11/16/02 5:38:15 pm
",rifle doesn't count on fit and form as much as shotgun shooting" as quoted bymarland.Yea well if you shoot skeet forever you know where the target is coming from. Trap youknow that its gonna go in a certain direction. Plus rifle shoots are timed. And in smallbore the wind may be blowing so don't argue with me marland. That shows your reading and comprehension skills then doesn't it? I did not say just the opposite. Opposite of what? Where did I say different? Anyone can pick up a sighted in rifle , hold it still with the sights aligned , gently squeeze the trigger and hit. A bird flushes you have seconds to get on it.I ain't talking competition I'm talking real shooting , not games.
Why do i always end up arguing with you?? Browning, The Best there is because second best is well...second best.Edited by: Sporting Clays Girl at: 11/16/02 8:11:28 pm
"Why do i always end up arguing with you?? " I'd guess it's Because you take everything as a personal attack.I came here asking a serious ,civil , non-offensive question regarding teaching my daughter to shoot and anything I may need to change in my style of teaching and I get accusations and grief, ok it's your forum I'm don in this section. If you want only women here just post it at the top. I swear If I just saw this thread I would think you two are married or actually divorced by the way you two argue. and over NOTHING. now that is true friendship. *whimper*tear* Edited by: john305 at: 11/16/02 7:12:06 pm
So should I teach her differently than I do boys??
Yes, teach her that the boys will beat her, but to not give up be a fighter. I got beat the 1st 3 times i went to a shoot the 4th time i won overall so just tell her to not give a sh*t what the boys say. Browning, The Best there is because second best is well...second best.
OK I can use that. Now we've all seen those things that women can do and guys can't and vice versa. Like the leaning over the chair thing and the leaning against the wall thingDoes any of that apply here? Are there parts of shotgunning that women can catch onto easier than males or possibly the opposite?
I progressed about the same as a male friend that is 4 years older than me. But of course you could take her to practice more then she'd beat the boys. Browning, The Best there is because second best is well...second best.
yes there is one thing. Young ladies and women listen to instruction better than the guys do.
