I have a sears model 200, a friend wants to buy it, but doesn't want the poly choke, do you know how to take it off? or does a gunsmith have to do it?

Jason,

Although it is possible to remove the big round part of the Polychoke by just unscrewing it, there is a sleeve portion under that which has lengthwise slits in it. I believe that this sleeve is soldered onto the barrel. I don't know if it would hurt anything to shoot the gun with just the sleeve in place or not. I don't suppose it would hurt anything, but it would look kind of funny. You might take a torch and heat the sleeve and melt the solder and remove it that way. It would probably screw up the blueing on the end of the barrel, but I guess you could get the sleeve off if you really wanted to.

Another alternative is simply to take a hacksaw and cut the whole thing off. Good luck.

I want to put it on another shotgun, is it possible without cutting the barrel?
