Now that dove season has opened do any of my fellow ladies have a great recipes for cooking dove :?:

Normally we either fry them or wrap them in bacon and marinate them in an Italian herb seasoning and grill them.

I'm looking for something different that we make the guys mouths water.

What would you suggest?

My mother-in-law makes doves and dumplin's and they are gooooood. I don't have a recipe and can't do it but I guess if you can cook chicken and dumplin's it would be the same. My dumplin's come out like soggy cardboard.

 Thanks Mel!
I had not thought of that one. Sounds tasty. I can cook chicken and dumplings, but usually buy fozen dumplings because I can't make them from scratch. I wish I had paid more attention to how, when my grandmother use to make them.

Try the dove and eggs recipe I posted on hunting forum.

Here is another good one
Marinade:
1 tbsp A1 Steak Sauce
2 tbsp. Worchester Sauce
1 c. Red Cooking Wine
(marinate 24 hours)

Roux:
2-3 tbsp. Grape Seed Oil
1.5 tbsp. Flour
white pepper & salt to taste
add 1/3 c. Water

The secret to making this dish is to heat your grape seed oil to 350 degrees. Place your marinated dove in the oil and cook about 45 seconds. Then make your roux. Add the flour to your dove and stir constantly. The dove and the roux, or as Miss Phyllis likes to call it "gravy" is done when it turns slightly brown. Serve over jasmine rice and sprinkle with parsley.

Here is a cool page from the National Dove Association.

Scott231,
Next time you call me a lady be prepared to have your *** kicked.

Oh by the way, consuming your kill is what predators do. This is why I'm out here in the ladies forum swapping recipes.

I'm going to have to violate a few off the bird feeder (when the wifes not around)
And try some of the recipes myself

Sorry Scott generally I don't get ruffled up.

Why not just take a long weekend and drive down here. Teal season opens this weekend and the doves are coming in giant squadrons. I'll show you just the place.
