If it is deer season in your state, then don't let your dogs run loose. The deer hunting was horrible on my property because two dogs were chasing the deer the ENTIRE WEEKEND!!!!

AARRRHHHggghhhh!

I have alot of time and money invested in one WEEKEND out of the ENTIRE year and its ruined by a bunch of dogs!!!!!

end of rant...

Also if you care about your dogs keep them chained up, one of the guys on a neighboring farm shot a buck that two dogs were chasing the dogs jumped on the downed deer and then there were 2 dead dogs as well. The dogs appeared to be strays but I couldn't help but think about the possibility that they could be someones pets.

Love dogs...heck, got three of 'em, but I hate a lot of dog "owners" who let there charges run loose, who expect everyone else in the world to put up with their misbehavior, and who b**** and moan when you tell them to keep their dogs at home.

If I know the owner, I warn him/her the first time. I warn them a second time. The third time, I shoot the dog.

I live in the country...I wouldn't advise discharging a firearm within city limits.

Not me I call the law. They're getting a ticket every time. If one of my dogs was to be loose, which has never and will never happen, I know they would be shot on site. So I'm not cutting anyone any slack when it comes to loose dogs. Seen too many of them run over by cars and believe me, Hunter20ga might sound harsh by shooting them but it's a lot more humane than letting them run loose. Don't just shoot the dog. Hit em in the wallet. If you do it will get better. The police hate getting repeat calls for stupid crap like that and even stupid people hate paying fines.

We don't have wolves arounds here, just semi-feral dogs...
Around here we do. Which Is why I asked the question. Or more specificly what makes them exempt from being shot. The way I see it wolves (or dogs) chase deer because this is what they have been doing for the last million or so years and who am I to question it, or to challenge it for that matter? Dogs will be dogs.

shotgun minster, Here I'll spell it out for you. I personally wouldn't shoot a dog unless it was on my property AND threatening the safety of my family or others. Like I said, call the law. If you shoot the dog, it does nothing to solve the real problem when the owners just get another dog and let it run loose as well. What I meant in that last post was, I've seen horrible things come from retards who let their dogs run loose. And from what I've seen, shooting them would be much more humane. Sometimes it IS the best option. you have to be the judge of that. I'll explain a little more in a minute.........................Now as for the dog/wolf thing. A wolf is a wild animal and you have no control over what they do. They are free as they should be in my eyes, and also they're protected. I have no problem with wolves chasing down deer. It's what they do. And as a matter of fact, my walls are covered with photos of these awesome animals. So shooting one would not only go against everything I believe, but it would bring legal trouble as well............... Dogs are domestic animals that are the sole responsibility of their owners. No exception. When owners don't care properly for them, (and proper confinement does fall into this category) the dogs become a problem to the community. And remember, some people are afraid of dogs in general. It's not right that they should have to feel intimidated by a loose dog even if most of us think it's ridiculous. To them it's not....................The dogs end up getting poisoned, shot, run over by vehicles, freezing to death, killed by coyotes, mountain lions, and in your neck of the woods even possibly a wolf. Around here, if I don't put a top on the puppy pens, hawks and owls can and DO snatch the little guys up and out of their kennels. Loose dogs also crap on other peoples' yards. And lastly, some are capable of attacking and doing serious damage to even a grown man...............................On a similar note- I keep my own dogs here at home, where they belong, for fear that one of my own dogs would possibly be picked up by a "less than ethical" person. And who knows what kind of life they would have then? Maybe even end up being fed crap feed, living in crap kennels, getting no attention. Just wasting away on some guys yard until he can dump them off for a hundred bucks or ship them away with some "broker" LMMFAO!!!!! Sorry if I seem like I'm getting off track here but you really struck a nerve with me a while back. Since you already proved to be such a smart guy, I figured you already knew all this. See people like me get really pissed off at people who do not care for their animals or at least can't even make 1/2 way intelligent decisions about what to do with them.
