Like Geometric and others, my answer is; it depends on conditions.

For early season, maximum 35 yd. shots, I generally shoot 3/4 oz. or 7/8 oz. out of the 20 ga. For the 3/4 oz. load you can't beat the following:

Rem hull
NS or Win 209 primer
CB1075-20 wad
14 gr. Green Dot
3/4 oz. #8 shot

The above is also my favorite skeet load.

A little later in the season I start to go with a little faster and heavier loads in 7/8 oz. in 20 ga. and 1 oz. in 16 ga.
