If this is a sidelock (looking much like a Crescent) it's a Meriden, made between 1905-1907. If it's a boxlock, it's a Stevens 311 sold after 1915. Meriden was owned by Sears, Stevens sold guns to Sears.

Value is a mine field I avoid.

As usual, Natty's nailed it. I overlooked the 5100 in your origional post. It is, as Natty said, a Stevens 5100. Value seemed about right, too, but value is for someone else.
