I have a FOX- Savage Arms Model FP-1 pump gun that I bought about 20yrs ago. It is in excellent condition with beautiful wood. If I remember right, when I bought it that it looked identical to a Weatherby. The only difference was that the Weatherby had scroll work on the reciever.

Does anyone have any info on this shotgun?

The info. on the barrel is as follows:

FOX Model FP-1 2 3/4 & 3" 12GA Modified Choke
Savage Arms Westfield, Mass. U.S.A.
Made in Japan

Under the reciever it has this #SA50541 & on the butt plate it has FOX

Need more info, post all the lettering and numbers, and where located on the gun, I've never heard of the Fox name on anything other than Doubles and single barrels.. Bushrod

I have the same gun, but in the semi-auto version (FA-1). It too is stamped similar to yours with the exception of being a 2 3/4 inch gun, only. I bought mine back in 1983. I seem to remember these guns did look exactly like the Weatherby's of that era. I've searched but haven't been able to come up with any info, so far, on FOX shotguns.

In 1981 Savage introduced the FA-1 and the FP-1 Fox autoloader and pump.

They were also in the 1982 Savage catalog, but gone from the 1983 catalog.

I bought a FP-1 new in the early 1980s and I still have it. It is the same as the Weatherby Patrician pump with the slide release on the opposite side. Usually there is a flaw in the stock that got them made as fox vs. Weatherby. My gun has a knot in the butstock. Mine works great and my son now uses it.
