Purchased an older Franchi 48 12 gauge 3" magnum a few weeks ago and it would not eject. Was told to try the lighter recoil spring from a 2 3/4" model.Well, tried it and still no ejection.Does anyone have any thoughts?Could it be the bushing?I polished the mag tube with 0000 steel wool and also cleaned and polished the bronze bushing.Have tried about every combo of bushing and washer arrangement.Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.Oh,the loads I have tested have been 1 1/8 oz,3 dram loads.

Be sure the friction ring is facing the correct way. "Lightly" oil the magazine tube and friction ring. Then shoot a 3" Magnum shell in the gun. This gun is recoil operated and will not reliably cycle 2 3/4" shells.

The magazine tube does need some lubrication to function correctly. Use a lightweight oil (heavy oils or grease will gum up in cold weather and cause malfunctions). You don't need a lot of oil, just a light coating.
