I HAVE 2 FRANCHI SHOTGUNS (NEITHER GAS OPERATED) AND HAVE ASSEMBLY QUESTIONS:

WHEN BARRELL IS REMOVED THERE IS A COLLAR THAT SETS UPON THE SPRING---WHICH DIRECTION SHOULD THIS FIT ON THE SPRING, AND WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THIS COLLAR?

You have a model 48 , which is recoil operated, the reason for the friction ring, on the top setting the friction is increased allowing for mag loads to be used, thus not abusing the system, on the lower setting you may use most quality lower brass shells, (skeet-trap loads)

Just keep it clean.

for the narrow ring beside the spring / the tapered side goes toward spring for low power shells and the taper goes toward the brass sleeve for highpower shells.

On the parts exploded view, which part number are you talking about that can be installed in either of two directions?

I have a Franchi 48 that is not cycling using light target loads. I haven't even had it apart yet, but plan to take it apart and lube it good. I'd also like to set it up for 2 3/4" light target loads. Any other advice?

I have a Franchi 500, purchased in 1979 in excellent condition. What can I expect to sell this gun for. 12ga/2 3/4" shells. Thanks,
Bubba
Farmplinker, If you have a new gun it will need a good 200 rounds to break in. After the break in period the cycling problem should go away.

The Franchi... Gas Operated 500 model shoul sell for $400 if it is in Fine++ shape... The new models... Franchi 712 is also Gas Operated and looks just like your model 500.. even the parts are interchangable and sell for $750 up...
:? I have an old franchi recoil opp' gun and the rings on the cylinder are a metal ring laying in a groove in a plastic one .Each ring is split. When i clicked on the exploded view I got a bug warning so don't know if it's the same as mine I allso have recycle prob's.
