I got my Nova at the very beginning of this waterfowl season and have been truly enjoying the gun. Having a firearm that is this worry-free has been a true joy.

I have been cleaning and lubing it with BreakFree CLP. I use the product on all my firearms. However, when I clean the exterior of the Nova barrel, my cleaning cloth comes away with a slight brown color. As far as I can tell, this isn't the color of the CLP and it doesn't occur on other firearms.

Anybody have any similar experiences cleaning the Nova barrel?

Thanks!

I have two Novas, a 12Ga and a 20Ga. I've noticed the same thing on both of them. On both of mine, I believe it's from the magazine tube (which is obviously where the pumps slides). Next time you clean it try a different cloth for the magazine tube versus the rest of the gun. Out of curiosity, let me know if you're seeing the same.

I believe it's rust. I had it on my brand new Nova. I used a rough plastic pad (the one people use for dishes) and a generous amount of Mobil 1 to get most of it off. If you look at the tube at just the right angle, you can see it on the surface.

The inside of the magazine tube is full of it. I ran a sock through it at initial cleaning and couldn't get the socks to run clean even after several runs.
