I have a friend that needs some work done to a shotgun and he needs a good gunsmith in the Tonganoxie/Kansas City area. any suggestions?

My guns go to Jim Greenwood at Augusta, Kansas.

You can probably find someone closer, but I doubt that you will find anyone better. I would check with owners of shooting grounds.

I don't what kind of gun that needs to be worked on, but if you go to Rudy at the Olathe Gun Shop there isn't much that he hasn't seen. Good crew in there as well if there is anything you need.
