I knew the state had closed some of the wildlife management areas (WMA's) to grouse hunting for the last several years - but only today noticed, as I was reading the state's website's hunting regs, that for the 2010 season (that normally would have run from Oct 16 to Jan 2011) : "GROUSE SEASON CLOSED". 
Pheasants are still in season, though - with the prior purchase of a book of Pheasant Stamps (a little like Duck Stamps).
