I have never used a gut hook to remove some of the entrails in the field. Do many of you use this on the birds you take, or do you wait unitl you're back home to gut the birds?
Howie, I just received my remington upland bird knife purchased from cabela's in the mail today. It has a nice blade, a gut hook, and a choke wrench for 12 and 20 ga.I've had a few birds get skunky in the past...threw away some chukars recently. Really ticked me off....So, I plan to use the gut hook in the field and pull out the entrals.Planning on keeping the heart, gizzard and liver though in a zip lock bag. This actually looks better than what I got as it includes a game shears:www.remington.com/accesso...rdtool.htm
