I read a bit in an article about loading shotshells without a press (all by hand.) It seems all I would need would be something to prime and crimp. Does anyone know of what I could use to crimp?
homer, I think this is what you are thinking of. I had these Lee Loaders since I was 12 years old. I use to load by hand back then for a few years as it was a lot cheaper to reload than buy factory. I wouldn't use them again but keep them for the fond memories I had of that time.
I think it would be almost impossible to crimp by hand without one of these tools as even they were hard to use for that purpose.
You could do roll crimps, Homer. You would probably want to use new hulls, as it's pretty tough to put a decent roll crimp over an old fold crimp. Ballistic Products has the crimpers and instructions.
