Greetings!

I am putting together a dedicated slug gun using an 11-87 action. I am considering either the Hastings or Remington rifled barrel.

Which is recommended from your experience and why?

Are there any accuracy tips other than a safe trigger job that can be recommended?

Any other suggestions are welcome.

Thank you for your time.

Cheers,

Sam

Sam,

Remington------Made in U.S.A
Hastings--------Made in France

I bought a Hastings bbl. for my 870 several years ago (Before France whimped out on us) It is the wad lock barrel and I use it for shooting waterfowl loads. So far the barrel has not whimped out on me but I would go with Remington, just because I'm a red neck.

Sam,

I am a biased owner of a new 11-87 Premier and I love it.

I also own a Hastings 870 smooth bore 12 ga--purchased when these were the low cost alternative to Remington's OEM barrel it is very well made and pattern's excellently.

Additionally I have a Remington 870 OEM slug barrel and it also works very well for it's purpose--Remington does make thier own barrels and they are made in the USA.

Failing any real evidence pointing to Hastings, I'd go with the Remington barrel and stay with the same specs and design that started the 11-87.

Happy Shooting,
