Hey everyone. This is my first post, although I've been actively reading posts made by others. I recently purchased my first tactical shotgun. I bought a Mossberg 500 Rolling Thunder (black of course). I'm looking to pimp it out!! For the uninformed, below is the shotgun:

The only thing I purchased for it thus far is a folding stock from ATI. I also purchased a saddle to be mounted onto the stock. Looking for more gadgetry to put on it- espcially under the muzzle break / supressor. Any ideas? How aboutfor the rest of the gun? Just wanting to see what others would do!! Can't wait to hear!!

Here is the folding stock I purchased:

What would YOU do? Send some ideas with links if you can...

Yeah, i won't be shooting this one (only at th range). The only reason I bought it is because I sort of like the way it looks (nice and tactical). It's just a piece of art for me to look at basically!! My 'real' weapon is my souped up S&W M&P 15T (awesome baby!)

Where should i mount the light? On the bottom of the muzzle? Which light do you recommend?

I heard you cannot replace the newer Mossbergs synthetic front stocks with a vertical grip. Is this true? Not sure I'd want to do it anyway, but was curious. Send links if you can so I can decide what to buy. I almost want this to be 'our' Mossberg RT. I'll post pictures as i buy the accessories for it! Let's go gents!!!

I would...

>Lose the ATI junk.
>Skip the light, since it's solely a range gun.
>Leave it alone, since it doesn't need accessories to be a range gun.
>Trade it in for something less embarrassing.
>Have peed myself laughing when I saw the ridiculous "suppressor", and purchased a user gun and not a joke. I mean, if it actually had a purpose...

You're right. It's not a practical gun to use. I agree with you on that. I love collecting guns and have quite th arsenal. My primary HD gun is my M&P15T. I have that decked ou to the 9's.

I just liked the look of the Rolling Thunder. It looks mean and badass. Just my opinion though. I'm not worried about how it shoots / accuracy, etc as it will mostly serve as a 'decoration' of sorts for my house. I also am a drill instructor and recruiter and like to show them off to the new privates so they can get a woody for the Army. I agree with you- but I've chosen this model and just want to soup it up a little bit. My target shotgun is a Remmy 870. No upgrades or addons (except optics) and that's my target shotgun!

I appreciate you chiming in though!!

Grippod. On the "unSupressor."
And it needs more rail. It is short at least 3 linear feet.
An optic with an objective of at least 56mm.
And a laser. Two in fact. One green, one red.
Brinkman AA with curly cord switch. Get the LED head because it's got to be quality.
A speedloader mod.
And a sweet freakin blue flame job on the "unSupressor."
And if there were Picatinny mount rear-view mirrors that would be sick.
And a midget ninja dispensor.

SFC Haas, is you dad Craig?

Look heres the low down on the Rolling Thunder. It has a giant paper weight hanging on the end and needs a stock. You SHOULD be able to use standard 500 forend replacement parts, but with out looking at the forend there is no sure way to say what you have.

Only since your dad might work on the SARET Team heres what I'll due for you.
a. I'll swap you a standard 18 1/2" 500 barrel for the one you have.
b. I'll include a reciever rail so you can mount optics later if you wish.
c. I'll scrape around and see if I can find you a stock. I have a couple of wood ones that you could paint black.

Notice the options vs. the configuration as used:

@ Desert- No, My father's name is not Craig. It is also Robert. I am the 1st generation of my family to enter the military. I actually like the 'giant paper weight' on the end of the RT. It makes it look supercool IMO. It has a small rail on the bottom of the paperweight that can mount a light (which is what i'm considering). Besides that, I was thinking of also mounting a Minotaur Picatinny rail along the top of the gun as well. If you google it, you will see what I mean. That would allow me the necessary room for optics, etc. I'm not interested in trading or anything, and am familiar with the different models of Mossbergs (I had a 590A1 at one point).

Haas, Rob is a good guy and is trying to help.
As for the Minotaur, the last time that rail was mentioned here things got real interesting.
Ultimately it is your shotgun and you're free to do what you want with it. Hope you have fun with and enjoy it.

If you like the goofy thing on the muzzle that's fine but it serves no purpose what so ever. It's only slightly more goofy than the "road blocker" (which is an affront to the REAL Ithica mag 10 roadblocker IMHO) that has the Barret muzzle break. Alot of these guys take their SG's seriously and some even stake their lives on them every day. If your into tacti-cool thats fine and more power to ya. Just don't expect everyone to get hard over a "rolling thunder" and by all means put whatever you want on it. I'm not trying to be harsh I'm just trying to explane this to you. If you like it go for it.

I appreciate all your responses gentlemen. This will not be for anything else then to look at and 'show off' to newbies in the Army. I have a souped up M&P15T (aforementioned) and a few cool handguns- but no cool shotgun. I'm only into this weapon for cosmetics and looks. Nothing else. I'll bring it to the range a few times just to break it in, but thats about it. Want it to look badass. I certainly would never buy it as a HD weapon or a target weapon. Just for looks folks- thats it! So, what can I put on this to make it look 'tacticool?'

@M24- Thanks bro. I appreciate it.

@Jake- Yeah, i agree. I"m into rifles myself and it's saved my life on a few occasions ;)

@Desert- PM on the way!

"Super-cool" and "Mossberg Rolling Thunder" don't belong together. "Super-Comical" would work better.

'Our' would refer to this forum!! It's my shotgun, but I want to put some sweet stuff on it to make it look more mean than it already is!!!
yea, we could sticky it as an example of what not to do.

Are you getting the picture that "Tacti-cool" isn't exactly all that well received around here?

Anyways, does anyone have any fish recipes that involve smoking?

You could JB Weld or super glue rail all the way around it from the grip to the muzzle and put lights, lasers, carry handles, side saddles, ghost ring sights, a holo sight, a sniper scope, tactical wheelbarrow picatinny attachment mount, silencer, loudener, and the attachment for shooting down police helicopters (you may not need that one.....yet).
