I recently purchased an Ultra Sporting which was still unfired and in the original box. I shot a round of sporting clays last week and it functioned fine. I went to shoot today and at first it would not cock. I finally got it to cock and it would only fire the top barrel. I then got it to cock again and selected the bottom barrel. It will fire the barrel you select but it will not fire the second barrel. I cleaned the gun after shooting it last week and it is not my first over/under but my first Browning.

Does anyone know what causes this or what I need to do to fix the problem.

Any help would be appreciated.

Do you know about the inertial trigger? When you dry-fire the gun, the trigger will not switch to the other barrel until the gun is given a "jolt", either through recoil of live ammo or by bumping the butt against the floor or even your hand.

This would explain it functioning properly when you are shooting it, and dry-firing the barrel you choose with the selector, but it will not switch barrels when dry-firing unless you rap the butt sharply.
