I was just informed that she ( my darling wife) has purchased a Browning Citori Trap Grade 6.Has gold inlays of birds and dogs and pretty stuff like that, came in a browning case, with Mod and Imp Mod choke tubes. She said there are two little scratches on the stock. She claims it is in good shape with a tight action. After checking out the serial # against browning's helpful web site, I was able to determine that it was manufactured in 1990.
She is now a WEEK in to the 10 days waiting period. She says she paid $2,000 for it.
Should I go kill the guy who sold it to here?... or should I thank him?...

Hurry, I have 3 days to decide.

I know for a fact that it is NOT for me.
Its for her.
But what is the judgement on price? Is it a bit much? just right? not enough?

My wife absconded my Citori when we first got married. I then introduced her to a sweet Ithaca 37 and she hasn't touched my Citori since. I got my gun back and she let's me use her 37 anytime.

Are you sure it;s for you, She may have a clayshooting boyfriend.. Bushrod
What made you think it was for him???

Grade VI? Heck, the wood should be worth a grand!

Seriously, it's a great gun, she certainly paid a little for the wood and engraving, but it will be REAL pretty. I think it sounds like a pretty good deal actually. Grade VI wood after market is something like $450 for the butt alone.

That seems to be about right for a used one. The Citori can cost well over $2000 depending on where you buy and which grade. If she's happy with her new gun and you're not stuck eating ramen noodles for a month then let her enjoy it.

So, She picked it up Tuesday, and took it to the range Wednesday…
What a gem… wonderful choice, beautiful 100% engraved, gold inlays on all sides, superior wood. Shoots like a champ, a true Trap gun. And I got to shoot it as well.

Sounds to me like she knows more about what she is doing than you do. And she did not have to get on the forum and ask if she got a good price. Believe you need to sit back and watch her shoot.

Nothing bonkers about buying a nice Browning.

Bill... When you are right you are right. I am proud to say though, I have thought her all she knows about men and guns
