You shouldn't be having any problems with any shells. I've got a Gold 20g also, and over the years it's cycled every cheapo shell there is, along with a lot of good shells too, and there has never been any problems. Try checking the gas ports in the barrel, or maybe your recoil spring tube has gunked up over time. If the gun is maintained and cleaned well, even cheap shells should cycle fine.

My BGH 20 gauge doesn't like the cheap Winchester shells, especially when dirty. It shoots Federals, Rios & Remingtons all just fine. Thourghly clean it and try a different shell.
