Was in a local gun/hunting store for the first time yesterday and a young man was in to buy his first shotgun. he looked at many and was settleing in on a mossy 20 combo, as he looked at his mom and said "i'm 25$ short", she told him they would have to come back later. the guy behind the counter seen me reach for my billfold, then he told the boy he would dicount it for him. made me feel so good about the place, i gave him a 20$ for some ammo. That gun dealer just got 2 new custermers.

It's nice to see that someone has taken the time to point out when a good deed has been done. Seems like all too often all we see are complaints about the "bad" things gun-shops do and rarely hear the "good" stories. Thanks for sharing with us.

I use to have a place like that to buy guns from did allot of business there for about 12 years. But the place has gone to hell in a hand basket now. Personally told the owner i never be back. He put some smartass punk in their who has no business working with the public. I go in their and have this 19 year old punk talk down to me and i a cash paying customer. Felt like telling this kid i been shooting guns longer than he been whipping is own ***. Wish i could find a friendly place to shop again.

Smart dealer and a great story! You deserve a lot of credit also, for encouraging the young man with the ammo. It sure is great to hear something positive on this site for a change! A lot of us forget that young people ARE the future of shotgunning.

It was at Frontier Outfitters in Des Moines,IA.
I had not been in there for awhile, stopped in looking for some wadders, their kidda yuppie, but have a great waterfowl selection.

ya ya , freinds don't let freinds shoot mossys, but i will let that boy make his own conclusion on them, i can only hope he wears it out, and buys more guns

I'm from the SW corner of the state, but get to Des Moines several times a year, usually for gun shows and such. While I am there I always make the rounds of the pawn shops and sporting goods stores.

This is one that I usually stop at to check out. You can bet I will do so, and make at least a small purchase if I don't find a gun I need (ok want) and will let them know I heard this story on SGW.

Best regards,

Jeff
