OK, so I am almost sold on a Y gun. But there is one thing I would like to hear some opinions on... I plan on using the gun for almost all my hunting including turkey hunting.

Does anyone know of a company making a quality fit gun sock that covers the alum reciever? has anyone had any success taping it? It seems it would be hard to get a good tape job and still work the action correctly.

I could always make a gilley suit for it (to match my leafy suit) like I do my cameras (very large cameras) but I would rather not.

I love the satin-ish finish on the stock and forearm, and the barrels can be taped, but the reciever concerns me...

I approached the bench with a roll of tape and asked to see the gun, but the counter man just laughed.... j/k

I haven't tried taping an alloy reciever so I can't provide any info on that. I would like to see a salesmans eyes if you asked to see a shotgun and then pulled out camo tape!

You can dissasemble the gun and have just the action anodized black.

I've wondered if the black spray paint meant for grills (high temp) would stick. Anyone have experience painting a alloy reciever. My 870 got a homemade cammo job and it turned out o.k.

Use the truckbed liner spray paint available at Walmart. I have done complete guns with it. It comes out with a texture and gives a somewhat factory look to it. You will have to steel wool the action first then put on a automotive primer base coat, then spray on the liner. It comes in black.

If you by chance want factory OEM quality camo dipping. You can check into having Bell and Carlson do it for you. They have a complete selection of different patterns to choose from. You can have just part of the gun dipped or the whole gun.

Brownells has a spray finish called Aluma-Hyde. Works great. $5-$6 and will do a bunch of guns. There is also some camo paint used for bows that just washes off when you want to. Search archery supply outfits for that.
