How does it pattern in your gun?

Before you pick up anything in bulk for HD, it would be good to try out various brands for patterning in your gun.

May I ask how much you've found this ammo for?

ETA: At Ammunitiontogo.com, Federal FC 9 pellet (full or reduced-recoil) is running about $15 more per case. It will almost certainly pattern better in your gun, and is, IMHO, WELL worth that extra six cents per round.

 

I bought a 25 pack for $22.00. I was surprized it seemed to be milder than Rem or Win 00 buck...less noise and recoil. It worked OK in 870 and 1100. 40 yds with full choke gave me about 3-4 hits on a sheet of typing paper. At 50 yds, one hit on the target was the best it would do.

I used some Winchester copper plated buck....Woah! most of the pellets hit the paper (7-8 at 40 yds).

But still---22 buck sis a lot!

In that case, Ammunitiontogo has Federal FC for what SG has Nobel Sport for.

Go with the Flight Control (but pattern you gun).

 

It patterns OK in some shotguns. It kicks like a mule, it's roll crimped and will cut the capacity in your shotgun by one round.

After trying it out I don't plan to buy anymore.

How does it pattern in your gun?

Going back to these very pertinent questions...for practice about anything that goes bang and will cycle in your gun is fine.

For serious work, i.e. Home Defense, the pattern of any ammo in your gun at 7, 15, and 25 yards is much more important than any 40 or 50 yard pattern. Depending on the pattern or group size of a specific gun, 25-35 yard is considered the maximum range that buckshot is truly effective. Past that you either need a rifle or slugs.
