The Beretta 391 comes with a rubber recoil pad in the hard plastic case. Now I want to replace the plastic butt-plate with the included rubber recoil pad. It seemed easy enough, just unscrew the the two screws to remove the butt-plate, but then the problem is that the rubber recoil pad has two very small holes, it cannot be right that I insert the screw there.
The manual says "This operation must be carried out by a competent gunsmith"???

I know how you feel, I just purchased a Silver Pigeon S and the directions cover every gun they make I believe. Mine comes with a rubber recoil pad on it but comes with another that is rounder and maybe shorter. There is no mention of it in the directions or on the web site.
If I was you I would spend a couple of dollars and take it to a gun smith just because it is a Beretta and it is something you will always be proud to own. Good luck and enjoy!!!
