I'm a pretty fair "nailer" but I've hit the knuckles on my thumb and index fingers of both hands more times than I can count. It hurts more every time too....ughhh.....
I got a bigger hammer....22oz....that hurts bad but the waffle face hurts worse

Went to a pneumatic nailer  Have not run any nails thru anything soft & fleshy yet.

Went to a 12oz hammer....MoBetter...Don't hurt near as much    10oz's less to be exact.....

My main hammer is an Eastwing 22 ouncer. I don't really care for anything lighter. It started life as a waffle head but is so smooth now you can't really tell it was a waffle at one time.

Eastwings last forever.
Amen......12, 16 & 20oz Estwing.......Anymore if I need the 20oz, I just hook up the compresser and nailer
