Does anyone participate in a program such as this? I saw something about it on the outdoor channel when they were hunting deer in PA, and I thought that was an excellent idea, there are those who enjoy the hunt, but dont really want to waste their harvest, and giving their deer or other large game to a food pantry is a great idea. In PA, you take your deer to the butcher, and the butcher processes it and gives it to the food pantry, and the butcher gives a good deal on processing to the pantry, so there is no additional cost to the hunter.

Seems like I recall something like "Hunters for the Hungry" or something similar to it.

The door from my garrage to my house has a blaze ornge sticker on it that says "Hunt For The Hungry". It is a great program. I shoot a few deer (this year I'm allows 4 a day!) and keep 2. The others I drop off at a pantry or select butcher and they turn the deer into ground meat and give it to the poor.

This program really is awesome, it shows that us hunters really do care, we arent just gun hoarding, bloodthirsty savages.

I've looked and there doesn't seem to be a national organization for this (I could be wrong). Most states seem to have similar programs. I'll find as many as I can and post them in the Regional Forums.
