I would agree that o/u's are t3h shyte. You get spoiled on them. I had a Fausti o/u that I liked, but I sold it for a Remy 870, thinking it would be better for a brush gun. I didn't have that 870 long.
A lot of people can say what they want about us being "snobs" for liking doubles, particularly the more expensive ones. A buddy of mine at work thinks the cheapest shotguns and cars are just as good, if not better, than the more expensive ones. Ironically enough, he also shares my love of expensive beer because cheap beer just isn't the same.
Everybody likes something different. Of the shotguns I've handled, I liked the o/u's more than any others. They just felt "right". Feeling right is a good way of making sure it becomes a part of you, which is important for good shooting.
I like o/u's because they feel the most balanced in my hands. I like the fact that all I have to do to look down the barrels is pop the thing open. I like where the safety is (right under my thumb). I feel they're better from a safety standpoint, since it can be hard to tell if a pump or auto is ready to rock or not from a long ways away. I like unloading a break-open A LOT more than I like unloading pumps and autos (unfired shells).
My sweetie prefers sXs over o/u, though she'll take either long before a pump. It's all in what you get used to. I got spoiled on the advantages of the break-opens (doubles and singles), so that's what I prefer.
