After shooting clays today with a 20 ga Yildiz, I decided to drop by Academy to buy some shells. The Round Rock Academy had three 12 ga and three 20ga Yildiz's in stock. I really like my 20 ga. I am getting better and better with it so... I took the plunge and bought a companion 12 ga. I had the sales clerk open all three so I could pick the one with the best wood. Two out of three had good wood, nice grain and good color match. It pretty much was a toss up between the two good ones. I specifically looked at the safety/barrel selector switch area too for galling. No galling was present on any of the three. I then asked the clerk if they had any Briley tubes for the Yildiz. He did not know if they had any specifiically for the Yildiz, but told me all chokes were hung up in one particular aisle. Low and behold, they had Briley tubes for 20 and 12 ga. (My friend had called a couple weeks earlier and told there were none in the store.) The package was generically printed. I had to look at the tubes themselves to see they were for the Yildiz shotguns... I love the way they handle, swing and track. The wood is still pretty "dry" looking, but nothing a little linseed oil won't fix.... Be well.

Tbaus,
Congrats on your new Yildiz! I know you are going to enjoy it.
I TOO, TOOK THE PLUNGE AGAIN.....
Friday evening, I sealed up the deal on the phone with a guy that has a NIB SpzME (Old Style) 12ga just like the one I have now. It has the polished oiled stocks, blued steel forarm latch and two piece safety. He told me that it's wood rivaled his Citori. I am supposed to meet him at a halfway point on the turnpike, for delivery, as he lives about 100 miles from me. Nice not to fool with a FFL. I should have it this Tuesday or Wed. Cash and carry price is $315. I want to thank Slakline, for giving me the tip on this gun.

Thanks Chris. I sure would like to take a gander at one of the older ones, just to see the different finish on the wood and metal. I just finished cleaning and lubing my new one. Again, black "stuff" rubbed off the outside of the barrels. I now know it to be some sort of "preservative oil" applied to the barrels. One of the things that pushed me to buy it this week is the free aluminum double rifle case ( their price $49) with the purchase of any shotgun. I noticed the Academy I went to also had one of the higher dollar, fancier models on the shelf too. Congrats on your find too Chris..

Since I sometimes do a "pack in" to some of my hunting spots, I wanted a lightweight guncase to protect my Yildiz as well as possible. I also wanted compactness too. I chose the 28" Boyt canvas takedown case instead of a hard case. For my purpose, it has been perfect. My next step is to waterproof the case. Any ideas?

Now you guys tell me about upgrading cases!!! lol.. I wish I had thought of that. I think I would have preferred a take-down case since I have none, but have several rifle cases... I guess I will have to do that on my  next purchase  ...

Tom,
I looked at a number of different takedown cases before deciding on the Boyt. I really didnt want to pay 100 bucks for a case. The second place case I found was the Beretta. Its a nice case but just a little longer than the 28" Boyt that I bought. The Beretta case was 50 bucks and was swade lined just liike the Boyt. I wanted the case to fit my Yildiz exactly right so I found the Boyt on sale for 90 and bought it.
